The Sacraments

The Sacraments

The Sacraments are effective signs of God’s grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church,

through which divine life is given to us.

The way in which these sacraments are celebrated signify and make real the graces for each sacrament.

They bear fruit in those who receive them in the correct way (CCC 1131).

There are seven sacraments:

Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.

(CCC – Catechism of the Catholic Church)

Baptism

Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments (CCC 1213).’

Parents who want their child to be baptised will be supported by the parish.

Preparation will be given that will help them raise their child in the Catholic faith prior to the baptism. Preparation is usually arranged involving a home visit.

Please contact the parish office to schedule your Child’s baptism and baptism preparation.
